Artista took great care in making show home fit in to elite neighbourhood

Artista Homes was looking for an opportunity to build a new home in an established community when the perfect lot became available in Tuxedo.

"We were thrilled to finally be able to build a home in an established area," said Amit Bindra of Re/Max Executives Realty, sales representative for Artista’s show home at 2 Ike Kraut Place, one of two new cul-de-sacs that run off of Litchfield Boulevard. It’s a spectacular area to build in with all its mature trees and grand homes.

While everyone at Artista was excited to be building in Tuxedo, Bindra added that they also knew a certain responsibility came with erecting a new home in such a prestigious area.

"Whenever you build a home in an established community, especially an area like this where the homes are grand yet fairly reserved in their design, Artista’s design team went to great lengths to make sure the home fit in with the community."

Mission accomplished.

An exterior clad with tyndall stone and a textured, coppery faux wood vinyl siding give the 3,365 square-foot, two-storey home a classic look that fits in perfectly with the mature trees and stately homes surrounding it.

Thanks to its impressive scale, (the sprawling home offers more than 5,600 sq. ft. of total living space), it projects an aura that makes it worthy of being part of one of the city’s elite neighbourhoods.

Appropriately, the home gets off to a stunning start.

"Artista’s design team put in a grand entrance that does a wonderful job of opening up the home right in front of you," Bindra said. "The four-foot by two-foot taupe tile is gorgeous, while a sitting room to the right and open-riser staircase to the left make an already grand foyer feel even larger."

At the same time, a catwalk bordered by the same tempered glass bordering the stairs runs across the top of the 20-foot-wide entrance, which provides effortless access to a huge, quietly spectacular great room.

"The first thing you see is the family room with its 20-foot ceiling, floor-to-ceiling picture window and oversized ribbon fireplace set in tyndall stone next to an entertainment unit that features a whitewashed pine backdrop," he said. "The engineered, hand-scraped oak hardwoods that run through the whole area add warmth and texture."

The adjacent kitchen/dining area, set beneath a 10-foot ceiling, features a pleasing synergy of modern and classic design themes.

A wealth of white acrylic cabinets and off-white waterfall quartz countertops that sport a tasteful matte finish give the spacious chef’s kitchen a modern feel, while the oak hardwoods and a huge, cantilevered dining area add a classic touch.

"A large window behind the dining area provides beautiful views of the landscaped, treed backyard, while a patio door on the side leads out to steps that take you down to a patio, water fountain and firepit area," Bindra said. "Backyard views through the huge window in the family room are also tremendous."

Turns out, there’s also a tremendous space tucked away to the left of the kitchen and dining room.

"It’s a three-season sunroom surrounded by four huge windows that features a tyndall stone feature wall, cedar wall panelling and porcelain tile floor," he said. "Everyone who went through the home during the Fall Parade of Homes loved it, as well as the huge main floor laundry/mudroom."

Not surprisingly, visitors were also rather taken by the palatial master suite upstairs.

"All told, it’s about 500 square feet when you combine the bedroom with the ensuite and walk-in closet," Bindra said. "With a sitting area next to a tiled fireplace and wet bar, plus its own private balcony, the bedroom is an incredible space."

The other half of the area, which holds the ensuite and walk-in closet, matches the bedroom’s considerable wow factor.

"Flooring is a gorgeous, heated marble-style porcelain tile that runs through both spaces. The ensuite features a six-foot stand-alone soaker tub, six-foot glass/tile shower with ceiling-mounted rain shower head and acrylic white vanity. The walk-in closet is also massive, with tons of built-in storage space."

Then, there’s the home’s lower level, a 2,000-sq.-ft., fully finished basement surrounded on three sides by huge windows.

"It holds a media area, wet bar, two games areas, an exercise area and also has a cantilevered wing that offers a big bedroom next to a four-piece bath. It perfectly finishes off a home that, while luxurious, is also very practical. Artista’s design team did a great job of creating a stunning yet functional home that fits in nicely with the surrounding area."
